Prototypical Eco-Island Study

2GHO was responsible for the design of Prototypical Eco- Islands that would clean contaminated sediment and at the same time create a recreational amenity. The prototypical eco island study is a big picture solution to the woes of Lake Okeechobee.  It takes a comprehensive look at all the issues and proposes a solution that has been embraced by regulatory agencies and is seen as an economic stimulus by government.  There was extensive G.I.S. analysis done to look at existing vegetation, endangered species habitat, bathometrics, sediments and many other factors.  The implementation will bring life and biodiversity to the area, as a start to the cleanup efforts of the lake.  The recreation opportunities will assure that the region will be maintained and enhanced as an eco-tourism destination.
