Abacoa Greenway


2GHO is responsible for the design of all the common area landscape including streetscapes, the town center and the master re-use landscape irrigation system for this 2050 acre traditional neighborhood development of Abacoa in north Palm Beach County.  Several of the commercial and residential parcels are the site and landscape design result of 2GHO addressing pedestrian and vehicular connectivity, community recreation, and providing for a unique quality of life.   On a community wide level a sustainable plant pallet has been developed supported by the use of recycled water for all the irrigation requiring state of the art equipment on a massive scale. Working with biologists, 2GHO is responsible for the pink haze of Muhly Grass blooming twice a year within the development’s unique greenway system designed to handle all the stormwwater.  

The Abacoa DRI consists of various types of Residential Dwelling Units; 1,085,400 square feet of Retail; 1,754,000 square feet of Research & Development, Industrial, Medical Office and Town Center; 510,700 square feet of Professional Office; Florida Atlantic University Campus serving 4,900 students and the Scripps and Max Planck research facilities; Baseball Spring Training Facility for two professional teams; 528 acres of Open Space, Upland Preserve, and Lakes; a Public Golf Course; a Public School site, Civic Buildings & a Tri-Rail Station. The Abacoa Master Plan was prepared in 1994, approved in March of 1995, broke ground in April 1996, & is almost completely built out today.
